Cinematographer & Lighting Engineer

About Me

I started my creative education at The Arts Educational School - Tring Park. I studied dramatic arts, musical theatre, dance and music. It was here that I made my first film at GCSE level. It was a school project and I had the wonderful opportunity to act in it. After leaving Tring Park with a Level 3 Btec (Distinction) and an A-Level in Textiles, I thought about what I wanted to do with my life.

Having acted on stage for 8 years, I decided that filmmaking and the process of directing actors was just as rewarding although in a completely different way. I have always watched documentaries, and this particular medium was what really spurred me on to go to film school. My year studying Cinematography at The MET Film School - Ealing Studios was incredibly eye opening with regards to the work and effort that goes into the pictures we cherish. Thinking about the composition of each shot changed the way I view each film I watch and advert I see.

I realised that in order to understand how to direct actors properly, I would need to broaden my cinematography skills. MET gave me more career direction, and although I love working with actors, I realised that lighting and camera work was where my true passion lay. While at film school I was lucky enough to be able to make my own documentary and apply my skills to a short film that was entered into The Short Film Corner at Cannes Film Festival. I was also involved in various other short film projects.

After finishing film school I got an internship at Chinacake Productions where I would work with a variety of clients, help create a documentary teaser tape intended for the BBC, work on a BBC iWonder shoot and help with booking and hiring equipment. I have also had the opportunity to work on a music video for upcoming singer/songwriter Joe Bernie. I was Camera Assistant/2nd AC on set for Daytime, a short film written and directed by Riz Ahmed. I have also been involved in an experimental film shoot for a music video, and continue ongoing work with award winning director David Wachs and his charity work.
